Just saw this news segment yesterday about how root canal treatments have gotten way more comfortable and quicker than they used to be. Apparently, dentists are using new tech and better anesthetics, so it's not the horror show our parents always warned us about, lol. I mean, I've never had one myself (knock on wood), but my cousin had one last year and said it wasn't as bad as he expected. Still, I dunno...I feel like dental procedures always sound scarier than they actually are. Curious if anyone here's had a recent root canalβis it really that much better now or is this just dentists trying to make us feel better?

Had one about six months ago, and while it wasn't exactly a walk in the park, it definitely wasn't the nightmare my dad described from his experience years ago. Still, wouldn't exactly call it comfy...just tolerable.
Yeah, it's definitely improved a lot. I remember when I first started practicing, patients would come in visibly anxious because they'd heard horror stories from family members. Nowadays, with better anesthetics and rotary instruments, the procedure is quicker and way less uncomfortable. Still, everyone's pain tolerance varies...curious if anyone's noticed a difference between general dentists and specialists (endodontists) when it comes to comfort levels during root canals?
