Interesting to hear silicone picks worked well for your daughter. I tried them myself a while back, but honestly, they didn't feel like they cleaned thoroughly enough for me. Maybe it's just my anxiety talking—I tend to worry a lot about infections or complications around my implants—but I always felt like I needed something firmer to really get in there and clean properly. My dentist recommended a soft-bristle electric toothbrush instead, and that's been pretty gentle without causing irritation. I guess it really does depend on personal comfort levels and gum sensitivity, like you mentioned. Still, silicone picks always made me a bit nervous...felt like I was missing spots or something. Glad they're working out for your daughter though!

Did your dentist mention anything about water flossers? I've been thinking about trying one because regular flossing feels awkward around implants...wondering if they're actually effective or just another gimmick. Curious if anyone's had success with them.

I totally get your hesitation...I've had implants for about 5 years now, and regular flossing always made me nervous too—felt like I might accidentally tug something loose. My dentist recommended a water flosser last year, and honestly, it's been a relief. It took some getting used to (water everywhere the first couple tries!), but now my gums feel healthier, and cleanings are less stressful. Might be worth giving it a shot if flossing around implants feels awkward for you too.

I was skeptical at first too, honestly thought water flossers were just another trendy gadget. But after my hygienist gently nagged me (lol), I gave in and tried one. Gotta say, it surprised me—my mouth feels noticeably cleaner, especially around my implants. Regular floss always felt awkward and a bit risky, but this feels safer and easier once you get the hang of it. Definitely glad I gave it a chance...might be worth a try if you're on the fence.

Interesting to hear your experience—I’ve been considering a water flosser myself, but still a bit unsure if it’s worth the investment. Regular flossing around my implants always feels a bit tricky, and I worry about accidentally causing irritation or damage. Did you find there was much of a learning curve when you first started using it, or was it pretty intuitive from the get-go? Curious how others found the adjustment period...
