I totally get what you mean about dragging out the weirdness. My kid had to get used to a partial, and honestly, we tried the “slow and steady” approach at first. It just seemed to prolong the complaints and sore spots. Once we switched to wearing it most of the day, things settled down faster.

Still not sure if there’s a “right” way—just gotta find what bugs you less.
That’s exactly it. Every mouth is different, but sometimes ripping off the band-aid (so to speak) is just easier in the long run. And yes, salt water rinses are a lifesaver for those pressure spots—can’t recommend that enough.

Yeah, I’ve noticed the “all at once” approach seems to get the adjustment over with faster, too. I tried easing into mine, but honestly, the constant on-and-off just kept my gums irritated for longer. Once I committed to wearing them most of the day, my mouth adapted way quicker. Salt water rinses are definitely clutch—sometimes I’d even use a soft toothbrush to gently massage sore spots. Not saying it’s painless, but it’s less drawn out. It’s wild how much little tweaks can help.

That’s pretty much what happened with me, too. I tried to “ease in” at first because I was nervous about the pain, but honestly, it just dragged things out. Once I started wearing them most of the day—even when it felt weird—my mouth toughened up way faster. Salt water rinses are a lifesaver, for sure. I was surprised how much just gently rubbing sore spots with a finger or soft brush helped. It’s not fun, but it does get easier. Hang in there—it really does settle down after a bit.

That’s funny, I tried the “slow and steady” thing too and just ended up with sore gums for twice as long. Did you ever get those weird pressure spots that felt like bruises? I swear, my tongue was doing laps around my mouth trying to figure out what was going on. Salt water rinses helped, but I also started using those little wax strips from the pharmacy—kind of like training wheels for your gums. Ever try those, or did you just tough it out?

I totally get what you mean about those pressure spots—mine felt like little bruises too, especially near the back molars. I did try the wax strips, but honestly, they kept falling off whenever I ate or drank anything warm. Ended up just dealing with it most days. Out of curiosity, did you find your speech changed at all during those first couple weeks? I was lisping like crazy and it was kind of embarrassing at work...
