How long does your toothbrush actually take to charge?

Honestly, I kinda felt the same way when I switched. My old basic brush just kept going and going, but now I’m plugging in my “smart” one every few days. The app is neat, but I can’t say my dentist has noticed any huge improvements. I mostly use the timer and pressure sensor… sometimes feels like a bit much for just brushing teeth.

I hear you on the “smart” brush hype. I switched about a year ago, and honestly, the charging thing is still weird for me. My old manual brush never needed a thought, but now I’m always checking if the light’s blinking. I do like the pressure sensor though—turns out I was scrubbing way too hard before, so maybe it’s helped my gums a bit. But yeah, sometimes it feels like overkill for something so basic.

I relate to this way more than I expected. The charging thing is actually why I hesitated for ages before getting an electric brush. I went for a basic rechargeable model (I think it was on sale for $30 or so), and even then, I still catch myself worrying about the battery dying at the worst moment. I usually get about a week, maybe a bit more, before I have to plug it in. It’s not a huge hassle, but it’s just one more thing to keep track of.

On the other hand, the pressure sensor has been a game changer. I had no idea I was brushing too hard either—my gums used to bleed sometimes and I thought it was just “normal.” Turns out, not so much. Still, sometimes I wonder if I really needed to spend extra for all these features, or if a decent manual brush would’ve done the trick. The convenience of never having to charge anything was nice, and honestly, those replacement heads aren’t cheap either. I guess it’s a trade-off...

I totally get where you’re coming from with the charging anxiety. I was actually surprised how much it bugged me at first—like, I’d never thought about “toothbrush downtime” before. Mine takes about 10 hours for a full charge (I’ve got a Philips Sonicare), but I just leave it on the charger overnight every week or so and it hasn’t been an issue. Still, it’s wild how something as simple as brushing your teeth can start to feel a bit high-maintenance. The pressure sensor is great, but yeah, sometimes I wonder if all these features are really necessary or just nice-to-haves...

I get what you mean about all the features, but for my kiddo, the pressure sensor’s actually been a game changer. She used to brush way too hard and her gums would bleed. With the sensor, she’s learned to go gentler. Charging is a bit annoying—sometimes I forget—but honestly, I’d rather deal with that than another trip to the dentist for gum issues. Maybe it’s overkill for adults, but for kids (or anyone with sensitive teeth), those extras can be worth it.
