What Helped Me Heal Faster After That Annoying Root Tip Surgery

I’ve had those late-night moments too, where I’m like, “Did I rinse? Wait, did I even brush?” Sometimes I worry that skipping one rinse will mess up the whole healing process. But after my last surgery, I missed a couple and honestly didn’t see much difference either. Did you notice your gums felt more sensitive when you skipped, or was it just in your head? I always wonder if the anxiety makes it seem worse than it is...

I’ve definitely had those “did I skip a rinse or two?” nights, especially when the prescription mouthwash ran out and I realized how pricey it was to replace. Honestly, I felt like my gums were a bit more tender when I skipped, but it’s hard to tell if that was real or just me being paranoid about messing up the healing. I do think the anxiety makes everything feel worse - like suddenly every twinge is a disaster. But hey, my wallet appreciated the break from buying all those rinses...

I totally get what you mean about the anxiety making every little thing feel like a big deal. After my own root tip surgery, I was convinced I’d ruined everything if I forgot a rinse or if I ate something a bit too crunchy. It’s wild how much your mind can amplify stuff - sometimes I’d feel a random ache and immediately panic, but it usually turned out to be nothing.

Honestly, those prescription rinses are no joke price-wise. I started spacing them out a bit toward the end, and while my gums felt a little more sensitive, it didn’t seem to mess with the healing in any major way. I think as long as you’re keeping things reasonably clean and not poking at the area, your body does a lot of the heavy lifting. The stress about “doing it wrong” probably does more harm than skipping a rinse here and there.

It’s just such a relief when you finally realize it’s healing up and you can stop obsessing over every twinge. Your wallet and your nerves both get a break.

I’m with you on the price of those rinses - my insurance barely covered any of it, and I swear I felt guilty every time I skipped a dose just to make the bottle last. Honestly, I ended up switching to a saltwater rinse for half my cleanings after reading a few studies (and some dentist forums), and it didn’t seem to slow things down at all. My main regret was stressing so much about every little “rule”. In hindsight, keeping it clean and not poking at my stitches mattered way more than being perfect with the expensive stuff.

I totally relate to feeling weird about skipping the pricey rinses just to stretch them out. It’s wild how much they charge for those little bottles, right? I did the same - switched to saltwater after my third refill, and honestly, nothing seemed worse for it. Makes me wonder if the expensive stuff is even necessary unless there’s a specific infection risk or something. Did your dentist push the branded rinse hard, or were they chill about alternatives? Sometimes I wonder if we’re just paying for peace of mind more than actual results...
