RE: Keeping your teeth strong: my steps for protecting enamel
Whether a rinse is worth the extra cost depends more on cavity risk than on sensitivity. If someone brushes with fluoride toothpaste and isn’t at elevated risk for cavities, adding a fluoride rinse isn’t automatically ne...
RE: Safest way to clean bonding along the gumline?
Whitening is the part I’d pause on. It can lighten natural enamel, but composite bonding generally won’t change color, so the result may make the bonding and tooth look more mismatched rather than fixing the staining. I’...
RE: What actually happens when you need a bone graft for dental implants?
That tingling actually freaked me out at first - felt like I was getting zapped every time I smiled. But honestly, I’m not convinced it’s just nerves “waking up.” I read that sometimes it can be mild nerve damage from th...
RE: Feeling stuck between DIY whitening and the dentist’s chair
I hear you on the sticker shock. I actually caved and did in-office whitening last year after trying strips, gels, you name it. For me, the sensitivity was definitely there, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as the over-the-co...
RE: Middle of the night teething struggles - what actually helps?
You’re definitely not alone with the “drawer full of teethers” thing - I swear I could open a tiny shop with all the stuff my daughter refused to touch. I did try the mesh feeder with frozen fruit, and honestly, it was h...
RE: LOOSE TEETH AND BLEEDING GUMS AFTER NEWS ABOUT MOUTHWASH?
I totally relate to this, but honestly, I think a lot of those “invigorating” mouthwashes are just overkill - especially for sensitive gums or if you’re trying to save money. I switched to a basic alcohol-free rinse (sto...
RE: The great dental quest: searching for planet-friendly floss
I totally get where you’re coming from - thicker floss and braces just don’t mix. I tried to save a few bucks with some “eco” silk floss last year, and it shredded instantly on my brackets. After that, I went back to the...
RE: Laughing gas saved my sanity during my root canal
Totally agree, but I wish insurance covered it more often. My office charges extra for nitrous and honestly, that adds up if you’re on a tight budget. Headphones help, but they don’t block out the smell or that weird pre...
RE: Creamy, Gritty, or Gel? What’s Your Toothpaste Texture Go-To
I hear you on the creamy pastes - less mess, less sting. But honestly, I keep going back to generic gels because they’re usually cheaper and last ages. Do you think the pricier sensitive formulas are actually worth it, o...
RE: What Helped Me Heal Faster After That Annoying Root Tip Surgery
I’m with you on the price of those rinses - my insurance barely covered any of it, and I swear I felt guilty every time I skipped a dose just to make the bottle last. Honestly, I ended up switching to a saltwater rinse f...
RE: How soon did you get back to your routine after a tooth pulled?
I’m with you on the plaque buildup - my dentist warned me about that too. I waited about five days before using my regular brush again, mostly because I didn’t want to risk messing up the stitches (and honestly, I wasn’t...
RE: Switching to floss picks totally changed my nightly routine
I totally get where you’re coming from on the plastic waste thing - those little picks add up fast, and I started feeling guilty every time I tossed one. But honestly, what pushed me back to string floss wasn’t just the ...
RE: How soon did you get back to your routine after a tooth pulled?
I’m with you on the cost anxiety - dry socket sounded like a nightmare, but the idea of paying for another visit was even worse. I waited a full two weeks before even thinking about anything crunchy. Honestly, I think de...
RE: ANYONE ELSE FEEL LIKE INVISALIGN "TWEAKS" TAKE FOREVER?
Honestly, the waiting drives me nuts too, but for me it’s also about the cost - like, if I’m spending this much, I want to SEE results, not just trust “the process.” I’m on tray 11 now and it feels like it’s crawling. So...
RE: Little tricks that helped me recover after gum surgery
Totally get what you mean about overdoing it - I kept thinking, “Am I just scrubbing my money away?” I asked my periodontist about mouthwash and she said to avoid anything with alcohol since it can sting and dry things o...
