Got braces yesterday and my mouth feels like it's been through a boxing match, lol. Eating is a nightmare, brushing hurts, and I'm paranoid about breaking something. Any tips to make this first week less miserable?

Haha, I remember that feeling way too well. First few days I lived off smoothies and mashed potatoes—basically anything that didn't require actual chewing. Also, don't freak out too much about breaking stuff; braces are tougher than they seem. Just avoid super crunchy or sticky foods at first. And trust me, after about a week your mouth adjusts surprisingly fast...hang in there, it gets way easier.

Yeah, the first few days are honestly rough. My kiddo went through the same thing—felt like every meal was a chore. Did smoothies work okay for you? Hang tight though, it really does get better pretty quickly.

Smoothies definitely helped me, but honestly, I got tired of them pretty quick. Did your kid try soups or mashed potatoes? I found warm foods felt soothing, especially when my teeth were sore. Also, how long did it take before meals stopped feeling like a chore for your kid? I'm still in the anxious stage of "is this normal?"... hoping it eases up soon.

Smoothies were a lifesaver for me too at first, but yeah... got old fast. Warm soups and mashed potatoes were definitely easier to handle—I remember tomato soup being surprisingly comforting. Also, rinsing with warm salt water helped ease the soreness a bit. Hang in there though, the worst soreness usually fades after about a week or so, and eating gets way less stressful pretty quickly after that.
