RE: Mobile dental vans vs. community health centers for senior care - what's better?
That’s honestly one of my biggest headaches too. We had a mobile van visit my mom’s senior center last fall and the bill was totally different than what we usually get at her regular clinic. Does anyone know if mobile va...
RE: What I wish I knew before getting cosmetic bonding on my teeth
Totally get where you’re coming from - my daughter chipped her front tooth last year and the bonding is like a magnet for stains. Does your dentist use a specific type of resin or color? Ours mentioned some are more stai...
RE: BRACES HURT WAY MORE THAN I EXPECTED... WHAT HELPS?
We ran into the same thing with the wax - it just never stayed put for more than a couple hours, especially if my son had anything warm to eat. Did you notice any irritation from the silicone covers at first? My kid said...
RE: Why is it so hard to get consistent aftercare for a chipped tooth?
Honestly, I get why you’d want to keep such a close eye on it, but is snapping photos every day really necessary? When my kid chipped her tooth, our dentist just told us to watch for pain or sensitivity, not obsess over ...
RE: Would You Go for a Brighter Smile with Lasers or Stick to DIY Kits?
Tried those LED kits with my teenager - total letdown. All hype, barely any change, and the gel made their teeth super sensitive for days. Anyone else’s kid end up complaining more about pain than actually seeing results...
RE: GETTING THROUGH THE DENTIST CHAIR WITHOUT PANIC - ANYONE TRIED SEDATION?
I totally get what you mean about the bill being scarier than the drill. My kid needed some fillings last year, and honestly, I was more tense waiting to hear what insurance would cover than during the actual appointment...
RE: Picking the right color for your braces bands: my go-to trick
That’s interesting about the navy bands - my kid actually had a similar issue with dark green. It looked great in the ortho’s chair, but under different lights, it almost made her teeth look… swampy? She was really self-...
RE: Teenage son has 8 cavities; root canal??
That’s actually a really good idea to ask them to rank the cavities by urgency. I wish I’d thought of that when we got our list - my first instinct was just panic and trying to figure out how we’d pay for it all at once....
RE: Keeping pain at bay after wisdom tooth extraction: worth the fuss?
I get where you’re coming from about the “no straw” thing feeling a bit much. My kid had all four wisdom teeth out last summer, and at first, I thought the same - how much trouble could a straw really cause? But after re...
RE: Coping With That Annoying Dry Socket Pain After Tooth Extraction
We actually took a different approach with my kid - our dentist said not to rinse at all for the first 24 hours, and then only really gently after meals. I was nervous about stuff getting stuck too, but honestly, nothing...
RE: Retainer snapped in half - what now?
We just went through this with my kid - snapped retainer right before a school trip. I totally get the backup thing now. Our ortho offered a discount on the second one, but insurance was no help at all (seriously, why ev...
RE: When did your kid see the dentist for the first time?
We got nudged by our pediatrician to go when my daughter turned one, which felt super early to me. I remember thinking, “She barely has teeth - what’s the point?” But apparently they want to catch stuff like bottle rot, ...
RE: Finally stopped my teeth from wiggling - here’s what worked for me
My kid just started wearing a night guard for grinding, and the drooling was honestly hilarious at first - she kept waking up thinking she’d spilled water on her pillow. I’m curious, does anyone notice if certain materia...
RE: Keeping your mouth happy after a root canal
Yeah, my kid went through this after their root canal last year. They kept saying their bite felt weird, even though the dentist said everything looked fine. I think it’s just nerves and muscle memory messing with you fo...
