Getting comfortable with a big smile even when your gums show

For me, talking to my dentist about options actually helped more—even just knowing what could be done made me less anxious.

I totally get that. I remember getting super fixated on my smile in group photos—like, zooming in and overanalyzing every pixel. It’s wild how a technical explanation from the dentist about gum lines and what’s “normal” actually made me feel way better than all the self-help stuff. But honestly, seeing someone else just own their look with zero concern? That really does shift your perspective. Sometimes confidence is more contagious than advice.

That really hits. Did you ever feel like you had to “practice” being confident, or was it more of a gradual thing after talking with your dentist? I always wonder if people just fake it ‘til it feels real, or if something actually clicks one day.
