I totally get where you’re coming from about pushing yourself a little. For me, the mental block was almost tougher than the soreness—I’d psych myself out over every bite. But you’re right, those little wins (like getting through a bowl of pasta) really keep you going. I do think age plays a part; my niece took way longer to get comfortable than I did as an adult. Still, everyone’s pain threshold and stubbornness are different. Just gotta celebrate progress, even if it’s slow or messy.

That mental block is real—I remember just staring at a sandwich like it was a mountain. Took me a while to trust my jaw again, even when the pain was mostly gone. Did anyone else notice certain foods were way harder to reintroduce? For me, bread was tougher than steak, oddly enough. Wonder if texture plays a bigger role than we realize...

Funny, I actually found steak way scarier than bread at first—guess I was worried about biting down too hard and feeling that zing. Maybe it’s not just texture, but how much pressure we think we’ll need? Bread can be chewy, but steak just seemed riskier to me. Did anyone else have weird “fear foods” like that?

Steak was my nemesis too, but honestly, apples freaked me out even more. Something about biting into a crunchy apple after dental work just felt like tempting fate. I swear, bread was way easier for me—at least it didn’t fight back.

I get what you mean about apples—they’re oddly intimidating after dental work. I actually found lettuce scarier than steak, which sounds weird, but those crunchy bits would get stuck everywhere and make me nervous. Chewing bread felt safer since it’s softer, but even then, I’d take tiny bites for weeks. It’s funny how everyone’s “fear foods” are different. Sometimes it’s not even the hardest stuff that feels the riskiest.
