Does switching to vaping actually help your teeth and gums?

I kinda feel like the whole “vaping is better for your teeth” thing is a bit overhyped. Sure, you dodge the yellow stains, but my gums still throw tantrums now and then, and my dentist isn’t exactly giving me gold stars. I tried switching to a “natural” vape flavor once, thinking it’d be gentler—nope, still got dry mouth and cranky gums. Maybe it’s just swapping one set of problems for another? Makes me wonder if we’re all just trading stains for soreness...

That’s exactly how it feels sometimes. I switched during braces thinking it’d be easier on my teeth, but I still get gum irritation and dry mouth too. Do you notice your gums getting more sensitive after vaping, or is it just random flare-ups? Hang in there—it’s tough juggling all this stuff, but at least you’re paying attention to what your mouth’s telling you.

Man, I totally get where you’re coming from. I thought ditching cigs for vaping would be a game changer for my teeth, but honestly, my gums still throw a fit every now and then. Sometimes it’s like, “Congrats, you swapped yellow teeth for dry mouth and random gum flare-ups.” Not exactly the upgrade I was hoping for.

I do notice my gums get more sensitive after a long day of vaping, especially if I’ve been stressed and not drinking enough water. It’s like my mouth just can’t catch a break. My dentist gave me the side-eye and said it’s probably the chemicals in the vape juice messing with my mouth’s natural balance. Who knows, right? At least we’re not ignoring the problem and pretending everything’s fine—half the battle is just paying attention to what your body’s telling you.

Hang in there. It’s all trial and error, but hey, at least you’re not alone in the sore gums club.

Dry mouth’s a big one, for sure. I’ve seen a lot of folks swap to vaping thinking it’ll be easier on their teeth, but then they end up with gum soreness or more cavities because there’s less saliva to protect everything. Have you tried switching up your vape juice or cutting back on the nicotine? Sometimes the higher nicotine stuff seems to hit people’s gums harder, at least in my experience. Curious if you’ve noticed any difference when you change brands or flavors?

I’ve definitely noticed the dry mouth issue gets worse with certain vape flavors—some of the super sweet ones seem to make it way worse for me. I tried dropping down to lower nicotine, and it helped a little, but honestly my gums still feel kind of irritated sometimes. Have you changed up your oral hygiene routine since switching? I started chewing xylitol gum after vaping and it seems to help, but I’m not sure if that’s just in my head...
