Last night I accidentally left my dentures out on the bathroom counter instead of soaking them, and this morning they felt kinda dry and uncomfortable. Usually I soak them overnight, but now I'm wondering if that's really necessary every single night... anyone else had this happen?

Hmm, I get why you'd wonder about soaking them every night, but isn't the soaking supposed to keep them from warping or getting brittle? My orthodontist was pretty firm about it when I got mine. But honestly, I've skipped a few nights here and there without noticing much difference—maybe it depends on the material they're made from? Has anyone checked if different denture types have different care routines...?

Actually, the soaking isn't just about preventing warping or brittleness—it's also crucial for hygiene. Dentures can harbor bacteria and fungi if they're not properly cleaned and soaked regularly. Even if skipping a night here or there doesn't seem to cause immediate issues, over time it could lead to oral infections or irritation. You're right though, materials do matter; flexible dentures might have slightly different care instructions compared to traditional acrylic ones. Always best to double-check with your dentist or the manufacturer's guidelines just to be safe...
