I’ll admit, I left my dentures in a cup of water by the sink overnight (okay, maybe more than once), and the next morning they tasted…off. I started using those fizzing tablets, but sometimes I wonder if I’m overdoing it or not doing enough. Anyone else struggle with remembering to clean/store them properly? What’s your routine—do you have a system that actually works, or is it just me winging it half the time?

Honestly, I’m right there with you. I keep telling myself I’ll get into a routine, but half the time I just rinse mine and hope for the best. The fizzing tablets are my go-to, but sometimes I wonder if using them every night is overkill or just basic hygiene. I tried setting a reminder on my phone, but then I’d snooze it and forget anyway. Anyone else notice a weird aftertaste if they soak too long? Maybe it’s just me being picky.

Yeah, I totally get what you mean about the fizzing tablets. I’ve only had my dentures for a few months, so I’m still figuring out what’s “normal” when it comes to cleaning. The dentist told me using those tablets every night is fine, but honestly, sometimes I feel like it’s a bit much too. I’ll skip a night here and there if I’m exhausted or just forget. Haven’t noticed any issues so far.

About the aftertaste—yes! It’s not just you. If I leave mine soaking longer than the box says (like overnight and then some), they definitely taste weird in the morning. Kind of like a chemical-y film? Now I set a timer for 10-15 minutes and then rinse them really well under running water. Seems to help with the taste thing.

I tried reminders on my phone too, but I’d end up ignoring them half the time. What’s helped me more is keeping the cleaning stuff right next to my toothbrush. That way, it’s all in one spot and harder to miss at bedtime. Not saying it works every single night, but it’s better than nothing.

Honestly, I’m still nervous about messing something up or not cleaning enough, but my dentist said as long as you rinse daily and do a proper clean most nights, it’s okay if you slip up occasionally. Just don’t use hot water—I did that once and learned the hard way that they can warp!

Hope that helps a bit. It’s definitely not easy getting into the habit, but I guess we’ll get there eventually...

Totally hear you on the reminders—mine just turn into background noise after a while too. I’ve found that making it part of my winding down routine (like right after brushing) helps, but yeah, sometimes I still skip a night if I’m wiped out. It’s reassuring to know your dentist said missing here and there isn’t a disaster.

One thing I started doing was keeping a little sticky note on the bathroom mirror. It’s low-tech and a bit old school, but somehow it catches my eye more than a phone alert. As for the aftertaste, I had the same issue until I started rinsing with cold water for a good minute or two. That seems to clear off that weird film.

And yeah, hot water is a no-go. I learned that lesson the hard way too—my first set ended up a little wobbly after I got lazy with the rinsing. Anyway, it’s all a work in progress. I figure as long as they’re mostly clean, that’s better than stressing over perfection every single day.

Sticky notes on the mirror—now that’s a classic move. I’ve tried phone reminders but honestly, I just swipe them away half-asleep. For me, it’s pairing denture cleaning with something I never skip, like setting out my meds for the next day. That way, even if I’m running on autopilot, I’m less likely to forget. And yeah, rinsing is key…I once skipped that and ended up with a soapy mouthful at breakfast. Not my favorite way to start the day.
