Honestly, I’m not sure I’m sold on the air-drying thing. I let mine sit out once and they picked up a weird taste, maybe from the bathroom? Ended up just rinsing them again anyway. About the dish soap—my dentist gave me the green light too, but I get paranoid about residue, so I use a baby toothbrush and rinse like crazy. For the case, I started tossing it in the dishwasher every few days (top rack). Not perfect, but it helps with that musty funk. Sometimes I wonder if these cases are just doomed to smell weird no matter what.

Totally get the paranoia about residue—same here, I rinse mine like I’m prepping for surgery. That musty case smell is the worst, though. I’ve tried air-drying too and yeah, sometimes it makes things funkier, especially if the bathroom’s a little humid. Honestly, tossing the case in the dishwasher sounds smart. I don’t think they’re doomed to smell forever, but it’s definitely a battle. You’re not alone in this.

I totally relate to the humid bathroom problem—mine’s basically a sauna half the year, so air-drying just turns into “air-marinate.” I tried putting my case in the dishwasher once, but it warped a little... not a total loss, but now the lid’s kinda wonky. These days, I just stick with a cheap toothbrush and baking soda for scrubbing, then leave the case out in the hallway to dry. Not perfect, but way less funky. Also, I’m way too cheap to keep buying new cases every time one smells weird.

I totally get the “air-marinate” thing—my bathroom’s the same, and sometimes it feels like nothing ever dries. I haven’t tried the dishwasher method yet, but after hearing about the lid warping, maybe I’ll skip that one. Baking soda is a lifesaver though. I’ve also noticed if I leave the case near a window (not in direct sun), it dries a bit faster without getting that weird smell. Curious if anyone’s tried those UV sanitizer boxes? They look fancy but not sure if they’re worth the hype or just another gadget.

I get the appeal of baking soda—cheap, easy, and it does a pretty solid job for most folks. But I’ve seen a few cases where people end up with tiny scratches on their dentures from scrubbing too hard, which can actually make them pick up more stains or odors over time. Not saying it’s a dealbreaker, but it’s worth being gentle, especially if you’ve got softer acrylic.

About those UV sanitizer boxes—honestly, I’m a bit skeptical. They look cool and the science behind UV disinfection is real, but I’ve seen mixed results in practice. Some patients swear by them, others just find them expensive dust collectors. Plus, they don’t replace actual cleaning—just an extra step if you’re a real stickler for hygiene.

If drying is a pain where you live, maybe try a small fan near the case, or even a dehumidifier if you have one lying around. I’ve seen people get creative—one person I know just keeps their case on top of the fridge for the warmth. Not sure it’s “dentist-approved,” but hey, whatever works...
