"With dentures, the rice would sometimes stick awkwardly underneath, and I'd spend half the meal discreetly trying to dislodge it."

Haha, been there...rice is sneaky like that. Ever had issues with crunchy stuff like tortilla chips or baguettes? Those always make me a bit nervous when eating out.

Crunchy foods can definitely pose challenges. I've noticed that tortilla chips, especially the thicker restaurant-style ones, tend to exert uneven pressure on dentures, sometimes causing slight shifting or discomfort. Baguettes are similar—particularly the crusty ends—which can require a bit more caution when biting down. Personally, I've found that taking smaller bites and chewing slowly helps mitigate these issues significantly.

Another aspect worth mentioning is seeds or nuts embedded in breads or crackers. Those tiny sesame seeds or poppy seeds seem harmless but can easily slip underneath dentures unnoticed, causing irritation later on. It's always beneficial to discreetly rinse or check after meals involving seeded items, especially when traveling or dining out where immediate adjustments aren't as convenient.

I've had similar issues with baguettes, especially when traveling abroad where they're super crusty. Smaller bites definitely help. Curious though, has anyone found a discreet way to handle denture adhesive reapplication during long flights or bus rides? I've struggled with that a few times... bathrooms aren't always ideal for quick adjustments, and I'd love to hear how others manage it.

Haha, crusty baguettes are the worst... nearly lost mine biting into a pretzel in Germany once—lesson learned! For adhesive on flights, I stash a small mirror and pre-measured adhesive strips in my carry-on. Quick fix under a blanket or facing the window seat usually works fine. Definitely beats fumbling around in tiny airplane bathrooms mid-turbulence.

I've never had much luck with the blanket trick myself... always feel like everyone's watching, even if they're probably not. Honestly, I prefer just biting the bullet and using the bathroom, turbulence or not. At least there's a sink and mirror handy if things get messy. But yeah, crusty bread is a no-go—learned that the hard way with a bagel at JFK. Never again.
