Haha, mashed potatoes all weekend sounds like a special kind of torture. Reminds me of the time I was at a friend's wedding and my lower denture decided to make a surprise appearance mid-toast... talk about timing. Had to pretend I was choking on champagne to cover it up. Anyone else had their dentures pick the absolute worst moment to rebel?

Yikes, that sounds stressful... have you considered using denture adhesive when attending events? I know adhesives aren't everyone's favorite, but they can really help prevent unexpected slips during eating or speaking. Also, have you had your dentures checked recently for fit issues? Sometimes even minor adjustments can make a big difference in stability. Might save you from another champagne "incident" down the road.

I've had my share of awkward denture moments too, especially when traveling on a tight budget. Adhesives can help, but honestly, I've found getting the fit checked regularly makes the biggest difference. Last summer, I skipped my usual check-up to save money before a family reunion... big mistake. Ended up discreetly adjusting my dentures behind a napkin during dinner—talk about embarrassing. Learned my lesson: spending a little upfront on adjustments saves a lot of headache (and embarrassment) later.

Haha, been there! I once had to sneak off mid-tour to fix mine in a museum bathroom... not my finest travel memory. Totally agree though, regular adjustments are worth it. If you're tight on cash, some dental schools offer affordable check-ups and adjustments. Saved me a few bucks last time and no more napkin maneuvers at dinner.

Glad I'm not the only one who's had a museum mishap... I remember panicking in a crowded café once, thought everyone was staring when mine shifted mid-bite. Dental schools are a good tip though, didn't think of that. Might check it out next time instead of worrying myself into knots over the cost. Thanks for sharing, helps knowing others have been through it too.
