a nightguard helped more than I expected, though it took getting used to.

Same here—nightguard was a game-changer for me, even though I was super skeptical at first. I went with the over-the-counter kind since the dentist version was $$$. Did you go custom, or just grab one from the pharmacy?

I actually shelled out for the custom one after trying a couple of the boil-and-bite ones from the drugstore. The OTC ones felt bulky and I kept waking up with jaw pain anyway, so I figured if I was gonna wear something every night, it might as well fit decently. Not cheap, though—my insurance barely touched it.

Curious if anyone else noticed their teeth feeling less wobbly after using a nightguard? Mine seemed to stabilize a bit, but I’m not sure if that’s just wishful thinking or what. Did anyone’s dentist say anything about why a nightguard would help with loose teeth? I mostly clench my jaw at night, so maybe it takes some pressure off?

Also, does anyone wake up with dry mouth wearing these things? That’s been my biggest gripe...

Honestly, I felt the same way—like maybe my teeth were less “wiggly” after a couple months with the nightguard. Could be just less grinding? Dry mouth is real though... sometimes I feel like I’m chewing on a sponge in the morning. Worth it for less jaw pain, but man, that price tag stings.

That dry mouth struggle is so real—sometimes I wake up feeling like my tongue’s glued to the roof of my mouth. I’ve noticed less shifting too, which surprised me. Do you think the nightguard actually helps stabilize things, or is it just less pressure from grinding?

I had the same question when I first started using a nightguard. At first, I thought it was just about stopping the grinding, but over time, my teeth actually felt less loose in the mornings. Not sure if it’s “stabilizing” in a structural sense, but not waking up with that sore, wobbly feeling was a game-changer. Have you noticed if your gums feel less irritated too, or is it just the shifting that’s improved? Sometimes dry mouth makes my gums feel weird, and I wonder if that’s part of it...
