I honestly thought I was gonna lose a couple of my molars. My gums were all puffy and my teeth felt loose, which was super scary. Ended up doing deep cleanings and using this weird mouthwash my dentist gave me, and things actually tightened up after a few months. Didn’t expect it to work that well. Anyone else manage to save their teeth from gum issues? What helped you out the most?

Deep cleanings made a huge difference for me too, but I was skeptical at first. My dentist also recommended switching to an electric toothbrush and being super consistent with flossing, which honestly felt like overkill... but it helped a lot. The weirdest part was how much my gums bled at the beginning - thought that meant things were getting worse, not better. Did you notice the same thing? I always wonder if those prescription mouthwashes are necessary or if just better brushing would do the trick.

I actually had the same bleeding thing and freaked out a bit. My dentist kept saying it was “normal” as my gums adjusted, but it still felt wrong at first. About the mouthwash - I never did the prescription kind, just regular alcohol-free stuff. For me, being consistent with brushing and flossing made more of a difference than any rinse. I kinda wonder if the prescription ones are more for people with serious gum issues? Either way, I wouldn’t say they’re always necessary.

I get where you’re coming from, but honestly, the prescription mouthwash made a big difference for me when I first got braces. My gums were super inflamed and bled a lot, and the regular stuff just didn’t cut it. Maybe it depends how sensitive your gums are or what your dentist notices? I was skeptical too, but it really calmed things down after a week or two.

The prescription rinse made a noticeable difference for me too, but I had to stick with it longer than I expected - almost three months before things felt stable. I also started flossing with those little picks instead of regular floss, which weirdly helped. Still paranoid about things getting loose again, though. Anybody else find that switching up flossing technique mattered?
