RE: Fresh breath: better from flossing or mouthwash?
I’ve wondered about that “clean” feeling too, but honestly, I always notice my breath is way better after a few days of consistent flossing than with any mouthwash. Mouthwash seems to mask things for an hour, tops. Floss...
RE: Weirdest things that actually help with braces pain
Couldn’t agree more about the cleaning hassle. I actually ran into an issue with the mouthguard getting a bit funky even with regular scrubbing, so I started soaking it in diluted hydrogen peroxide every few days - seems...
RE: Why my morning coffee might be turning my teeth yellow
I've heard the same thing about waiting before brushing - apparently acids from coffee can soften enamel and brushing too soon could wear it down. My dentist said to wait at least 30 minutes, but honestly, who has time f...
RE: Which feels more natural to you: fixed implants or removable dentures?
That’s really helpful to hear, especially about the “real tooth” sensation not being just hype. I’ve always wondered if the difference was as dramatic as people say or if it was more psychological. The slipping and food ...
RE: Saw this story about a new “braces-friendly” school lunch menu - what do you pack for your kids?
I get the worry about stuff sticking in the brackets - my kid’s the same, and I swear pasta sauce is a magnet for it. We switched to rice paper wraps with shredded chicken and cucumber, and it’s been way less messy. Abou...
RE: Sealants for Kids: When Did Your Dentist Recommend Them?
I totally get where you’re coming from. I actually pushed back a bit when our dentist suggested sealants for my son’s first molars before they were fully in. It just didn’t make sense to pay for something that could chip...
RE: When your breath turns evil: a story of mysterious mouth odors
I’m with you on the aligner weirdness - sometimes I feel like my mouth’s a science experiment. I tried a water flosser after reading all the hype, but honestly, it took me a while to get used to the whole process. It did...
RE: Why is post-extraction care so confusing?
Honestly, I was super skeptical about the syringe too - felt like I needed a manual just to figure out how not to mess things up. My oral surgeon said to use it after every meal, but then the instructions were so vague. ...
RE: Tips for surviving braces as an adult (and not losing your mind)
That’s interesting, because my ortho actually recommended a bigger size for “better cleaning.” Honestly, I think it just made everything wear out faster and got stuff stuck between my brackets. Switched to a smaller one ...
RE: WEIRD TRICKS PEOPLE SWEAR BY FOR WOBBLY TEETH
Extra-soft brushes definitely helped us too, but honestly, I’m still not sure we ever found the magic solution. My kid would just clamp her mouth shut and glare at me like I was trying to steal her teeth, not clean them....
RE: Keeping sore gums in check: what actually works for you?
That hits home. I bought a water flosser after my hygienist raved about it, but honestly, I felt like I was pressure washing my whole bathroom instead of my teeth. Maybe I’m in the minority, but regular floss just seems ...
RE: Which is rougher: getting a crown or recovering from a root canal?
I can relate to a lot of what you’re saying, especially about the unpredictability. I’ve had both a root canal and a crown (on the same tooth, lucky me), and honestly, I spent way too much time trying to figure out which...
RE: Finally stopped my teeth from wiggling - here’s what worked for me
The prescription rinse made a noticeable difference for me too, but I had to stick with it longer than I expected - almost three months before things felt stable. I also started flossing with those little picks instead o...
