Thin apple slices are a total lifesaver, right? I swear, I used to just avoid apples altogether because biting into them was like asking for trouble. Bagels, though... yeah, I still struggle with those too. Even when I cut them up, they’re just so dense and chewy. Not worth the pain most days.

And yes, wax is seriously underrated. My ortho tossed a tiny pack at me and barely explained it, but now I keep a stash everywhere—car, backpack, bathroom. It’s saved me from so many nasty sores, especially in the first few weeks.

Popcorn is a hard no for me. I miss it, but those little kernels love to wedge themselves in the worst spots. Had one stuck for days once—never again. At this point, I just tell myself it’s temporary. There are enough other snacks out there that won’t make my mouth hate me later.

It’s weird how you start appreciating the smallest hacks once you’re dealing with braces or aligners. Makes you realize how much you took eating for granted before all this dental stuff.

100% agree—never thought I'd be so grateful for things like soft bread or steamed veggies. I still miss popcorn, but honestly, it’s not worth the risk. Tried “just one handful” last month and spent the next two days with dental floss and regret. Wax is clutch, but I wish someone had warned me about how much I’d need it. Bagels are dead to me for now, but hey, at least I’m getting creative with my snacks.

Popcorn is basically my nemesis now, too. I keep thinking I’ll “just be careful,” but nope—instant regret every time. Anyone else have trouble with raw fruit? Apples used to be my go-to snack, but now I’m stuck cutting them into tiny pieces or microwaving them for a few seconds. Is there anything you’ve found that’s surprisingly easy to eat with braces? I feel like I’m missing out on some secret foods.

We’ve been through this with my kid, and honestly, soft foods are a lifesaver. Scrambled eggs, yogurt, and even pancakes (without the crunchy edges) have worked well. For fruit, we switched to things like ripe bananas or canned peaches—way easier than apples. Smoothies are also a hit here, especially on sore days. Popcorn is banned in our house for now... just not worth the hassle.

Pancakes are a staple here too, especially on tight weeks—cheap, soft, and I can sneak in some mashed banana or applesauce to keep them interesting. Honestly, I miss crunchy stuff sometimes, but not enough to deal with the pain or the dental bill.
