RE: Keeping old bridges in shape - what actually works?
Bottle brushes have been a game changer for me too - those tiny ones from the drugstore are way cheaper than the fancy dental brands, and honestly, they work just as well. I totally get the superfloss panic... tried it o...
RE: Swollen gums and braces: is this normal or just me?
Totally get what you’re saying - braces are just a whole different ballgame. I was using the little brushes and rinses, thinking I was on top of it, but my gums still puffed up. Ended up going in for a cleaning (which I ...
RE: Can apples and carrots actually help keep your teeth clean?
That’s actually a good point about the fruit sugars. I started packing carrots instead of apples for work snacks, mostly because they’re cheaper and don’t get mushy in my bag. I do feel like they help with that fuzzy fee...
RE: Surviving The Aftermath Of Tooth Extraction: Did Salt Rinse Help You?
I totally get what you mean about the saltwater feeling like ocean water - my first rinse made me cough because I accidentally used too much salt (definitely learned to measure after that). But honestly, even though it s...
RE: Struggling to keep cavities away - what’s actually working for you?
I hear you on the nerves before checkups. I do everything "right" - brush, floss, rinse, the whole nine yards - but still get that pit in my stomach when it's dentist time. My dentist also mentioned genetics and "enamel ...
RE: Why does every makeover seem to fade after a few weeks?
You totally nailed it about the excitement dying down. I remember when I reorganized our pantry on a strict budget - labeled bins, color-coded everything. It looked amazing for about two weeks. Then life got busy, and su...
RE: Making the Switch: My Steps for Choosing a Gentler Mouthwash
Funny timing - I actually went the opposite direction for a bit. I tried alcohol-free but, honestly, I felt like my breath didn’t stay as fresh after coffee or lunch. For me, I missed that super-minty blast, even if it ...
RE: GETTING RID OF STAINED TEETH: WHAT ACTUALLY WORKS?
I get what you’re saying about in-office whitening being more effective, but honestly, the price tag just isn’t doable for us right now. We stuck with baking soda and a good electric brush after braces, and that actually...
RE: Keeping pain at bay after wisdom tooth extraction: worth the fuss?
I totally get what you mean about the ice packs. I didn’t bother with those fancy gel things either - just grabbed a bag of frozen peas and wrapped it in a dish towel. Worked fine, honestly, and I could just toss it back...
RE: Keeping your mouth clean after dental work: new study says we might be overdoing it?
Totally relate to the “nuked gums” feeling - tried a strong rinse once and it felt like my mouth was on fire. I did splurge on a water flosser a while back because my dentist suggested it, but honestly? Didn’t see a huge...
RE: What Helped Me Heal Faster After That Annoying Root Tip Surgery
Totally agree here - saltwater was my go-to, mostly because it’s cheap and, honestly, I didn’t want to shell out for fancy rinses. I was paranoid about brushing near the stitches too but ended up using a super soft tooth...
RE: Laughing gas saved my sanity during my root canal
This hit home for me. I used to try and tough it out too, thinking I was saving money by skipping the extras. But after one especially rough filling where my hands were shaking the whole time, I realized I was kind of se...
RE: Foods you had to give up (or discovered!) after getting veneers
Those popcorn kernels are sneaky... I had to swear off caramel corn after a pricey veneer repair. I’m with you on the apple craving - can’t justify risking another trip to the dentist just for a crunch. Sliced apples are...
