Getting gum surgery soon - what am I really in for?

So, I just found out that gum surgery isn't exactly a modern invention. Apparently, ancient Egyptians were already trying to fix gum issues thousands of years ago (ouch). Makes me feel a bit better about my upcoming procedure, knowing we've had a few thousand years to improve things, haha. But seriously, I'm still kinda nervous... anyone here been through it and can share what it's actually like?

Had mine done about six months ago, and honestly, the anticipation was way worse than the actual procedure. The numbing shots were uncomfortable (not gonna lie), but after that, it was mostly pressure and weird noises. Recovery was manageable too - just stock up on soft foods and Netflix. You've got this.
