Cold drinks were great for me too, but honestly, avocado in smoothies felt kinda weird texture-wise... I ended up going with frozen mango chunks instead. Super soothing and tasty, might be worth trying if avocado isn't your thing.

Glad you mentioned the texture issue—I had a similar experience after my gum graft surgery. Avocado smoothies sounded like a great idea at first, but the thickness was just too much for me. Mango chunks sound like a good alternative, though personally, I found frozen bananas blended with a bit of almond milk to be both soothing and easy to manage. The coldness really helped with swelling, and the smooth consistency didn't irritate my gums.

On a related note, did anyone else find certain fruits or ingredients unexpectedly irritating after surgery? For instance, I initially thought pineapple would be refreshing, but the acidity was surprisingly uncomfortable. Curious if others had similar experiences or if it was just me being overly sensitive post-procedure.

Also, from a dental perspective, I remember my dentist advising against using straws during recovery to avoid complications. Did anyone else receive similar instructions? It seemed minor at first, but drinking smoothies without a straw definitely took some getting used to...

I had the same straw advice—my dentist was pretty firm about it, actually. Said something about suction messing with healing tissue. Pineapple was a no-go for me too...but weirdly, berries were fine. Maybe it's just the acidity levels? Did berries bother anyone else?

Berries were actually great for my daughter after her gum surgery. Dentist said they're usually less acidic and gentler overall. Maybe try blending them into smoothies or yogurt bowls...worked wonders for us, and she healed up pretty quickly.

That's reassuring to hear. I've been sticking mostly with soups and mashed potatoes, but smoothies sound like a great alternative. I'll definitely give berries a try—thanks for the suggestion!
