When you’re stuck on soft foods after oral surgery, do you guys lean more toward yogurt or applesauce? I’m honestly torn—yogurt’s got the protein and feels a bit more filling, but applesauce is just so easy to eat (and kinda nostalgic?). I swear I lived on both after my wisdom teeth came out, but curious which one people actually prefer… and does one feel better on sore gums?

I totally get the nostalgia with applesauce—it just goes down so easy, especially when your mouth feels like it’s been through a battle. But for me, yogurt always won out because it was cool and soothing, plus the protein kept me from getting hangry. Did you ever try adding a little honey or cinnamon to either one, or did that bother your gums?

Adding honey or cinnamon is tempting, but I always worry about anything that could irritate the extraction site or slow healing. Cinnamon, especially, can be a bit harsh on sensitive gums—at least in my experience with post-op patients. Honey’s soothing, but since it’s sticky and sugary, I usually recommend waiting until things are less tender. That said, yogurt’s protein definitely helps keep energy up when you’re stuck on soft foods. It’s tough to find the right balance between comfort and healing...
