Those hotel sinks are sneaky... feels like lukewarm water but suddenly your retainer’s all warped.

That is literally my worst nightmare. I keep worrying I’ll mess mine up the first time I travel. The aftertaste thing freaks me out too—tablets just make it taste weird no matter what. I’m glad to hear dish soap and a toothbrush works for you. I might try that, even though I’m always worried about leaving soap residue. Still, better than a warped retainer, right? All this makes me wish there was just a magic way to keep them clean and safe without all the stress.

Yeah, the fear of warping is so real. I’ve definitely hovered over hotel sinks, second-guessing the water temp every single time. I get what you mean about the weird aftertaste from tablets—it’s like, no matter how well you rinse, it lingers. I usually go with a tiny drop of dish soap, then rinse forever just to be safe. Sometimes I’ll even use bottled water if I’m feeling extra cautious. It’s a hassle, but honestly, it’s less stressful than worrying about having to get a new retainer.

I get the worry, but honestly, I’ve never had much luck with dish soap—just feels like it never fully rinses out for me. I actually started using those foaming retainer sprays instead. Way less hassle, and I don’t stress about the taste or water temp. Maybe I’m just lazy, but it’s worked so far...

I get nervous about soap too—always worry I’ll taste it later or it’ll mess with my stomach. Those sprays sound a lot easier, honestly. I might try one next time since I hate fussing with rinsing forever. Thanks for sharing what works for you.

Totally get the soap anxiety—

“always worry I’ll taste it later or it’ll mess with my stomach”
. That’s me every time I try to clean my retainer in a hotel sink. Here’s what usually happens:

- Try to rinse forever, give up, still taste soap.
- Regret life choices.
- Wonder if my stomach will rebel later.

Those sprays sound like a game changer. Might finally stop me from sniffing my retainer for leftover bubbles like a weirdo...
