My daughter had the same struggle with popcorn—movie nights were rough for a while. One sneaky kernel and she'd be back in the orthodontist's chair getting things fixed. Totally second the wax suggestion, though; we kept little packs everywhere. And yeah, saltwater rinses were our go-to as well, especially after adjustments. It feels endless at first, but when she finally bit into corn on the cob again...that smile was priceless. You're right, it does get better. Hang tough!

I can definitely relate to this—popcorn was a nightmare for me too when I had braces. Wax was helpful, sure, but honestly, after a while, I just started avoiding popcorn altogether. It wasn't worth the hassle or the unexpected orthodontist visits (and bills!). Saltwater rinses were a lifesaver though; simple, cheap, and effective.

Speaking of budget-friendly solutions, has anyone tried those reusable silicone covers for braces? I've heard mixed reviews—some say they're great for preventing irritation during meals, others claim they're uncomfortable or tricky to use. I'm considering recommending them to my nephew who's about to start his orthodontic treatment, but I'd appreciate hearing some firsthand experiences before investing.

Definitely agree with you on this—saltwater rinses saved me more times than I can count. Haven't tried the silicone covers myself, but I've heard they're kinda hit-or-miss. Honestly, braces are nerve-wracking enough without adding extra gadgets to fuss over. Still, might be worth a shot if your nephew struggles with irritation...just maybe don't invest too heavily until he's tried one or two first.

Haha, totally get this! When I had braces, I tried those silicone covers once or twice...felt like I was chewing on rubber bands all day. Saltwater rinses were definitely my go-to as well—cheap, easy, and zero hassle. But hey, everyone's different, so maybe your nephew will have better luck. Just don't be surprised if he ends up ditching them after a day or two...

Haha, silicone covers...been there, done that. Felt like I had a mouthful of pencil erasers all day. Honestly though, braces are just one of those things you eventually get used to. First week or two is rough, but after that, it's mostly smooth sailing. Tell your nephew to hang in there—before he knows it, he'll be laughing about all this stuff too.
