We had a similar debate at home—my partner was all about sticking to the “right” timeline, but honestly, our kid just wasn’t ready. We waited until we noticed some subtle changes in his teeth, then started the slow wean. No drama, no sleep lost. Sometimes you just have to read the room, not the chart.

I get where you’re coming from, but I’ve gotta admit, we leaned more on the “chart” side with our twins. Waiting until we saw changes in their teeth honestly just wasn’t an option for us—those ortho bills add up fast, and our insurance barely covered anything. I know every kid is different, but for us, a little structure saved a lot of money (and dentist lectures) down the line. Sometimes sticking to the timeline is less about rules and more about keeping things affordable.
