Silicone covers were a lifesaver for me too, but I actually found wax easier to shape around the brackets, especially when things felt extra rough. Warm compresses never did much for my pain—cold stuff like ice water or popsicles gave me way more relief, though I know that's hit or miss. Electric toothbrushes were tricky at first, honestly... the vibration made my teeth feel even more sensitive for a few days after adjustments. Eventually got used to it, but I still switch back to a manual brush when things get really sore. Funny how everyone’s mouth reacts so differently.

- Popsicles never really did it for me either. All that cold just made my teeth feel like they were buzzing. Warm salt water, though? Total game changer. My grandma swore by it and I finally listened after running out of ice cream. Not glamorous, but surprisingly soothing.

- One weird thing: I started chewing on silicone baby spoons (don’t judge). Super gentle and somehow made my gums feel less angry after adjustments. Way better than gnawing on my own tongue, which... yeah, don’t do that.

- Honestly, the only “universal” thing is that nothing’s universal. What works for one person just annoys the next. Wouldn’t have believed half this stuff if I hadn’t tried it myself.

I get where you’re coming from, but I actually think there are a few things that help almost everyone—like warm salt water rinses. I know it sounds old-school (and maybe a little boring compared to popsicles or baby spoons), but I’ve never met anyone who didn’t get at least some relief from it. Maybe it’s just the simplicity? Or maybe it’s the fact that it doesn’t irritate sensitive teeth the way cold things can.

On the electric toothbrush front, I was skeptical too. I thought it would make my teeth hurt more, but it actually helped me stop overbrushing, which I didn’t even realize I was doing. Manual brushing made my gums more irritated, honestly.

Chewing on baby spoons is a new one for me, though. I used to just stick to orthodontic wax when things got rough, but maybe I should’ve branched out. Still, I’d be a little careful with chewing on anything—sometimes it just made my mouth feel worse.

Plus, it’s cheap and you don’t have to run to the store for anything fancy.
