struggling to ditch the pacifier...anyone else dealing with this?

Honestly, I thought potty training was tough, but getting my 2-year-old to give up the pacifier is turning into a whole other level of drama. We've tried the whole "pacifier fairy" thing, offering rewards, even gently cutting the tip off (which just made him super mad and suspicious of us, lol). He literally acts like it's his best friend - tantrums, tears, the works whenever we try to take it away.
I know it's probably not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, but I'm starting to feel like we're stuck in this never-ending battle. And of course, grandma keeps saying "he'll grow out of it," but um...WHEN exactly? Because right now it feels like he'll be going to college with that thing.
Anyone else feeling frustrated by this or have some sneaky tricks that actually worked?

I get the frustration, but honestly...maybe he's just not ready yet? With my youngest, we tried all the tricks too - nothing worked until we backed off completely. We stopped making it a big deal, and around three-ish he just lost interest on his own. Sometimes pushing too hard makes them cling tighter. Might be worth stepping back for a bit and seeing if he naturally moves on.
