How soon did you get back to your routine after a tooth pulled?

It’s wild how much the advice varies—my oral surgeon was super strict about not brushing the extraction site at all for like 48 hours, but then my regular dentist said gentle brushing is fine. I tried to split the difference and just used a wet Q-tip at first… felt ridiculous, but I was paranoid about dry socket too. Did you notice any weird taste or smell while you were healing? I kept thinking something was wrong, but apparently that’s just part of the process.

That weird taste thing totally freaked me out too after my last extraction. I kept worrying it meant infection, but my dentist said unless there’s swelling or serious pain, it’s usually just the healing process and the clot breaking down. Did you get any weird white stuff over the site? I had a film that looked sketchy, but apparently that’s normal too. I was super cautious with brushing—honestly, the Q-tip idea sounds smart. How long did it take for you to feel like you could eat normally again?

That white film you mentioned is pretty common—had the same thing after my last extraction and nearly panicked. It looked gross but my dentist said it’s just part of healing. As for eating, I stuck to soft foods for about a week, then slowly added more texture. Took maybe 10 days before I felt totally normal chewing on that side. Q-tips are great for gentle cleaning, but I’d still be careful not to mess with the clot too much. You’re not alone—healing always feels weird at first.

That white film totally freaked me out too—glad I’m not the only one. I remember being super paranoid about dry socket, so I avoided anything crunchy for ages. Honestly, mashed potatoes and yogurt were my best friends for a while... Healing feels so slow, but it does get better.

I get why folks are cautious, but sometimes I think we might overdo it with the soft foods. I went back to my regular diet a bit sooner—carefully, of course. Just chewed on the opposite side and avoided anything sharp or spicy. That white film is usually just part of normal healing, not necessarily a sign of trouble. Honestly, being too anxious about dry socket made me more stressed than necessary... patience helps, but I found a middle ground worked for me.
