How soon did you get back to your routine after a tooth pulled?

I’m with you on the white film - mine looked kind of gross but my dentist said it’s just part of the scabbing process. I tried to stick to softer foods for the first two days, but honestly, I was starving and ended up eating some regular stuff on day three. Just made sure nothing got stuck in the socket and rinsed gently. Did you notice any extra pain when you switched back? That’s what worried me, but it turned out fine. Sometimes being too cautious just drags things out.

That white film threw me off too - looked worse than it felt. I waited about three days before eating anything tougher than mashed potatoes. I was nervous about pain but honestly, it was more awkward than painful. Did you have any issues with food getting stuck? I found using a little syringe to rinse helped a ton, but maybe I was just being fussy. Sometimes I wonder if being extra careful actually made things heal slower, but at my age, I’d rather play it safe.

Honestly, the syringe was a lifesaver for my kid after her extraction. Food got stuck constantly, especially with all those soft foods. I’d say being “fussy” is actually smart - better safe than risking infection, right? She healed up great, even if it took a bit longer.

I’m with you on the syringe - those things are weirdly satisfying to use, too. I had a molar out last year and food just kept finding its way into the socket no matter how careful I was. The dentist told me to avoid swishing too hard, but honestly, gentle rinses with the syringe were the only way I felt like I wasn’t growing a science experiment in my mouth. Maybe it’s overkill, but hey, better than dry socket... that’s one club I never want to join.

Totally get what you mean about the syringe - without it, I was convinced stuff would just camp out in there forever. Did you ever worry about using it too soon? My dentist warned me not to start rinsing for the first 24 hours, but honestly, I was so anxious about infection that I probably waited a bit longer than needed. I kept picturing dry socket every time I even sipped water... Paranoid, maybe, but that pain is no joke. How long did it take before you felt like things were back to normal? For me, it was at least a week before I dared eat on that side again.
