RE: Mint overload or gum? Struggling to pick what actually works
- Totally get the “minty onions” thing. Some mints just mix weird with food smells. - Gums with xylitol work better for me - less aftertaste, actually freshens. - Sprays are hit or miss, and honestly, most taste arti...
RE: Finally flossing around my implants without fear - anyone else get nervous at first?
- Been there - “gentle but thorough” is way more vague than it sounds. - Quick tip: If your gums aren’t sore or bleeding and the brush bristles look normal, you’re probably fine. - Overthinking’s kind of part of the ...
RE: Mobile dental vans vs. community health centers for senior care - what's better?
- Coordination’s a mess, no doubt. - Mobile vans are great for access, but info gaps? Constant headache. - I’ve had to call pharmacies, family, even old clinics just to piece together a med list. Not exactly efficien...
RE: Sealants Saved My Kid’s Smile - Anyone Else Have Good Results?
- Totally get the worry - dental stuff can be a black hole of anxiety sometimes. - In my experience, once a sealant’s off, you’re just back to baseline risk. Haven’t seen any evidence it makes things worse than before. -...
RE: Feeling stuck between another root canal or just pulling the tooth?
- Crowns are marketed as “forever” solutions, but they’re not really immune to cracking or wear. - Costs add up fast when you’re back in the chair for repairs. - Ever looked into implants as an alternative? They’re p...
RE: Feeling stuck between DIY whitening and the dentist’s chair
- “If only they had a payment plan for white teeth...” - right? I’d sign up. - Those strips always leave me with zings too. Not worth it for a week of tooth freeze. - Honestly, pro whitening works but the price tag’s wil...
RE: Tackling decay in 13 teeth
- Agree, xylitol gum helps take the edge off cravings, but it’s not foolproof. - It’s a decent swap for mindless snacking, especially when I’m bored at work. The sweetness does trick my brain sometimes. - Noticed fewer...
RE: The struggle of squeezing floss between stubborn teeth
- Agree, waxed floss is more durable and slides easier. - That’s smart. I stash one at my desk too. - Has anyone actually found a tape that doesn’t shred on tight contacts? I’ve had zero luck with those.
RE: Which is easier: healing from a simple extraction or a surgical one?
- Healing really does depend on a bunch of factors - surgical extractions usually mean more swelling and longer recovery, but honestly, technique and aftercare make a big difference. - Icing and elevation help a lot. I t...
RE: Making the switch: how I use my water flosser (and where I still mess up)
- Water flossers are great for some, but I’ve seen similar issues with braces - sometimes food just won’t budge. - String floss with a threader is awkward but can be more effective for stubborn spots, especially around b...
RE: That first week after wisdom teeth removal… did anyone else swear by ice packs?
- Ice packs really do the trick for most folks - reduces swelling if you use them right away, but yeah, timing matters a lot. - Frozen peas are a classic, but honestly, they get gross fast. I’ve seen people try gel packs...
RE: Plastic or wire? Something weird I learned about retainers
- Trays actually worked out better for me, cost-wise. I lost my first set, but my ortho offered a discount for replacements - guess it depends on the office. - Cleaning’s a pain, but I just toss them in a cup with mouthw...
RE: Anyone dealt with wobbly teeth? What worked for you?
- Patience really does make a difference. Forcing it, especially with those old-school tricks, just ups the drama and pain. - I’ve seen kids freak out more from the anticipation than the actual tooth coming out. Letting ...
RE: WHICH WAY DID YOU GO WHEN REPLACING A MISSING TOOTH?
- Totally get where you’re coming from on the cost. Implants aren’t cheap, and partials can be a solid option if you’re not ready to commit financially. - That awkward adjustment period is pretty normal - most people nee...
