RE: Dentures causing painful spots - anyone else dealing with this?
A single spot rubbing against the denture seems different from soreness because the whole denture feels loose or unstable. A pad might cushion that localized friction, but it wouldn’t correct a poor fit. Do the pads bein...
RE: Ice or gauze for a knocked-out tooth - what’s your go-to?
I actually had a tooth knocked out last year (rollerblading accident, of all things), and I panicked and stuck it in my mouth because I’d heard that somewhere. Looking back, I wish I’d known about the bacteria thing - my...
RE: How I survived the teething stage (and kept my sanity)
I get the appeal of just grabbing a washcloth and rolling with it, but honestly, I’m always second-guessing if I’m doing it “right.” My daughter’s teething drool mixed with mashed banana basically turned her bibs into ti...
RE: When your breath turns evil: a story of mysterious mouth odors
Honestly, I keep wondering if all these gadgets are really necessary. I mean, I get that bridges and tight spots make things trickier, but sometimes I think we (or maybe just me?) go overboard with the water flossers and...
RE: ADJUSTING TO A MOUTH FULL OF NEW HARDWARE: A DAILY TALE
That’s exactly it. I’ve only had my implants for three weeks, and honestly, I keep expecting them to feel “normal” by now, but nope. The weirdest part for me is eating - I’m hyper-aware of every bite, like I’m scared I’l...
RE: Why Does Post-Extraction Care Feel Like a Mystery?
I totally relate to the overthinking part - I spent half my first evening after the extraction googling “can I drink water after tooth pulled” and still wasn’t sure. My written instructions were so vague, like “avoid swi...
RE: Middle of the night teething struggles - what actually helps?
It’s oddly comforting to hear that others’ babies also reject all the “approved” stuff. I keep second-guessing whether I should be trying more or just accepting that he wants to chomp his own hands. Tried the cold spoon ...
RE: braces vs clear aligners: which made you feel less self-conscious?
That’s exactly what I’m worried about. I keep picturing myself fumbling with aligners in the cafeteria and everyone staring. Did your daughter ever get used to it, or was it always awkward? I’m torn because I thought ali...
RE: Worried about 6 root canals
I swear, the lack of clear aftercare info is what’s stressing me out most right now. I’ve got six root canals coming up (yes, SIX, my dentist actually double-checked the x-rays), and honestly I’m already making a spreads...
RE: Which is easier: healing from a simple extraction or a surgical one?
I’m about to get my first extraction (honestly, pretty nervous), so I’ve been reading everything I can. Stories like yours are reassuring - my dentist said simple extractions usually mean less swelling and way faster hea...
RE: Finally stopped my teeth from wiggling - here’s what worked for me
I’m totally with you on this - mine always ends up somewhere weird by morning. I actually woke up once with it stuck to my cheek (no idea how). The whole “bulky guard” thing is such a pain. My dentist gave me one of thos...
RE: Weirdest pain after getting braces tightened - normal or not?
I know what you mean, but I actually think it’s not just overthinking. My first adjustment, I got this weird tingling in my cheekbone and thought for sure something was wrong. The office kind of brushed it off, but I end...
RE: Dealing with those sneaky in-between tooth cavities
That’s exactly how it started for me - my gums were ridiculously sensitive, like even the softest toothbrush felt like sandpaper. I kept worrying I was doing something wrong, especially when they’d bleed. The rubber tip ...
RE: Keeping your retainer from getting gross (and actually remembering to wear it)
I’m honestly relieved I’m not the only one who keeps losing track of my retainer. I’ve only had mine for a couple months and I already found it in my sock drawer once (don’t ask, I was half asleep). My biggest issue is t...
