RE: Could morning tooth sensitivity be from clenching?
Wear by itself can’t show when it happened. A dentist can compare it with older exam records or photos, or look for changes on follow-up exams. That can show whether the wear is progressing, but not prove clenching is th...
RE: Tooth brushing tricks that actually worked for my stubborn kid
I’ve wondered about those timers too, especially since my son is all about gadgets. He got one of those superhero electric brushes for his birthday and, honestly, the timer was the only thing that kept him brushing longe...
RE: How soft is too soft for toothbrush bristles?
Funny, I had the same issue with those extra soft bristles. My hygienist recommended them after some gum sensitivity, but honestly, I felt like I was just moving toothpaste around. Did you ever try an electric brush with...
RE: Mobile dental vans vs. community health centers for senior care - what's better?
That’s a really good point. I’ve seen my aunt get bounced between the van and the clinic before, and it definitely added to her stress. I wonder if anyone’s figured out a good way to coordinate between the two? Like, is ...
RE: Feeling stuck between DIY whitening and the dentist’s chair
That gritty sound is the worst, right? I used to tense up so much my shoulders would ache after a cleaning. Have you ever tried asking them to skip the polishing part? Sometimes they’ll just use a softer paste or go easy...
RE: Saw a news piece about more adults getting braces - what’s it really like?
That attitude really helps. I used to stress about every tiny bit of plaque, but honestly, it’s impossible to be perfect - especially with all the little wires and brackets. Some days are just tougher than others, right?...
RE: Which is easier: healing from a simple extraction or a surgical one?
I totally get what you mean about the unpredictability. I had a “simple” extraction a couple years back and figured I’d be back to normal in a day or two. Instead, it was this dull, annoying ache that just wouldn’t quit ...
RE: Weirdest things that actually help with braces pain
I totally get where you’re coming from - food anxiety is real with braces. Spinach is sneaky, but for me it was shredded chicken. I thought I was being smart, but those tiny fibers got everywhere and I ended up spending ...
RE: Moving my jaw around after tightening: does it even help?
Moving my jaw after tightening always felt like a gamble to me. Sometimes gentle movement helped loosen things up, but if I overdid it, I’d get this weird throbbing on one side - usually the left for me, though. I notice...
RE: Do Whitening Strips Actually Work for You? Quick Poll
Funny, I actually had the opposite experience with strips - my teeth are pretty straight but have weird surface stains, and the strips worked surprisingly well for me. I did get a little patchiness at first, but after a ...
RE: When the first fix doesn’t stick: a dental do-over adventure
Popcorn is always the culprit, isn’t it? I swear, every time I’ve had something go wrong with my braces, it’s been after I talked myself into eating something crunchy. Once, I bit into a tortilla chip at a party and felt...
RE: Battling receding gums: surgery vs. special toothpaste - what worked for you?
Funny you mention water flossers - I was super skeptical, but my hygienist talked me into trying one. It honestly made a difference for me, especially where regular floss would just irritate things. Did your dentist ever...
RE: Finally stopped my teeth from wiggling - here’s what worked for me
I get the night guard struggle, but have you tried a different fit or style? Sometimes the bulkier ones are impossible to keep in, but the thinner custom ones made a huge difference for me. Also, I actually found that cu...
RE: Surprised by how much gum health affects diabetes and heart issues
That’s not just your imagination - gum issues can totally mess with blood sugar. There’s actually a bit of a two-way street between gum inflammation and diabetes. When my gums flare up, my glucose numbers get weirdly stu...
RE: How soon did you get back to your routine after a tooth pulled?
I totally get what you mean about the gel packs - way more comfortable, but I had one burst on me too. Not fun waking up to a damp pillow. For me, the nighttime swelling was worse if I didn’t prop myself up with extra pi...
