RE: Figuring out daily life after bone graft surgery
Tying shoes sounds frustrating when bending is uncomfortable. Slip-ons or a long-handled shoehorn could make that task easier without requiring you to change your recovery routine. Which everyday task has been hardest fo...
RE: Tooth Knocked Out At Playground - What Would You Do?
That’s actually super helpful to know about the timing. I’ve always worried I’d mess something up if I tried to put a tooth back in, but it makes sense that waiting could be worse. Has anyone had a dentist recommend thos...
RE: Sealants for Kids: When Did Your Dentist Recommend Them?
Yeah, my kid grinds his teeth too - same worry here. Our dentist does check the sealants at every cleaning and even pointed out a spot where it chipped once. Still, I get nervous between visits... It’s hard not to overth...
RE: What did you get after your root canal: crown, filling, or something else?
I went with a crown after my root canal on a molar, mostly because my dentist said it’d be stronger in the long run. I did have some sensitivity to cold for a few weeks, but it faded. I’ve heard onlays can feel a bit “of...
RE: Why do kids always seem to chip a tooth at the worst possible moment?
My son chipped his front tooth on the playground last year, right before school pictures - couldn’t have picked a worse time. He thought it looked “tough” and didn’t want it fixed at first. I was way more worried than he...
RE: Switching to floss picks totally changed my nightly routine
I get what you mean - it took me a while to get used to the weird angle too. I still struggle with the back teeth sometimes. Did you notice any difference in gum soreness or bleeding after switching, or was it just the a...
RE: What Helped Me Heal Faster After That Annoying Root Tip Surgery
Totally relate to the food cravings - why does crunchy stuff sound so good when you can’t have it? I remember staring at a bag of pretzels like it was gold. I lived off yogurt and scrambled eggs for days. Saltwater rinse...
RE: How did you get your kid to ditch the binky?
I totally get what you mean about bedtime being tough - I had the same thing with thumb-sucking as a kid, and honestly, it was just comforting. My overbite probably came from that too, though my parents kept debating if...
RE: Finally stopped my teeth from wiggling - here’s what worked for me
I totally get what you mean about the bleeding. When I first got my braces, my gums freaked out and bled every time I brushed. Honestly, it freaked me out too, but my ortho said it’s pretty normal at first. Water flosser...
RE: What foods did you give up or swap after getting braces?
Cottage cheese was a hard no for me - texture just weirded me out. I actually leaned into smoothies a lot, especially when my teeth felt super sore after adjustments. It’s funny, I never really missed popcorn, but chips ...
RE: How I deal with a busted tooth until I can see the dentist
Totally get you on the soup overload. I started microwaving frozen veggies and mashing them with instant potatoes - tastes better than it sounds. Ever tried making smoothies with stuff besides fruit? I did beans once... ...
RE: Dealing with those sneaky in-between tooth cavities
I get what you mean, but honestly, I’m not convinced flossing alone is enough, especially with braces. Even with gentle technique, I still ended up with a sneaky cavity between two molars. Those little brushes (interdent...
RE: Which one actually gets your teeth cleaner: blasting with water or good ol’ string floss?
I get where you’re coming from - string floss definitely gives that “instant feedback” when you pull out something gross, and I used to be all about it too. But after getting braces, string flossing became a total pain f...
RE: Worth it for kids’ teeth? Our fluoride varnish experience
I get where you’re coming from - sometimes it feels like overkill when you’re already doing the whole brushing and mouthwash routine. Have you noticed any white spots or sensitivity since skipping the varnish? Just curio...
