RE: EATING SOUP FOR WEEKS: HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO CHEW NORMAL FOOD AGAIN?
I get where you’re coming from, but honestly, I’m the total opposite. I tried to rush things after my wisdom teeth came out and paid for it - dry socket is no joke. I’d rather be “overly cautious” than risk more pain or ...
RE: Which feels more natural to you: fixed implants or removable dentures?
I’m in the middle of this whole process right now - just got my first implant a couple weeks ago, and honestly, I was freaking out about all the same stuff. The airport thing had me worried too (I travel for work), but h...
RE: What if your implant keeps bugging you - how would you cope?
Same here - every tiny click or squeak has me second-guessing everything. My dentist said the clicking could just be the crown settling or maybe a bit of bone adjusting, but how am I supposed to know if it’s “normal” or ...
RE: Eating with aligners: taking them out every meal vs. snacking less
That’s actually super reassuring to read. I’ve been stressing about how much of a hassle it’ll be - like, will I ever just enjoy a coffee with friends again without overthinking it? But hearing how the “chore” part helpe...
RE: Why is post-extraction care so confusing?
Totally get where you’re coming from. I had my first extraction a few weeks ago and the “gentle swishing” part made me super anxious. I kept worrying I’d mess up and cause a dry socket or something. Honestly, it would’ve...
RE: Which whitening toothpaste actually works for you?
Lighting is such a sneaky factor - I swear, my teeth look way whiter in the car mirror than under my bathroom lights, which always messes with my head. I did try one of those “pro enamel” whitening pastes because my dent...
RE: Crowns after root canal: always, sometimes, or nah?
I totally get the hesitation - crowns are a huge hit to the wallet. I remember feeling like my dentist was just upselling me too, but after way too much Googling and panicking, I found out molars especially are more like...
RE: Moving my jaw around after tightening: does it even help?
Yeah, I totally relate to that nervousness. After my first tightening, I was so freaked out about messing things up that I barely ate or talked for a couple days. Honestly, it just made my jaw feel even stiffer and more ...
RE: Weird tricks for stopping braces from tearing up my cheeks?
Ice cream was a lifesaver for you? I wish I could say the same, but honestly, the cold stuff actually made my mouth ache more. Maybe it’s just me being sensitive, but even room-temp water felt like a stab for the first f...
RE: What should I have asked before my root canal?
That taste drove me nuts, honestly. I kept thinking it was just me being sensitive, but it really lingers. I wish I’d asked more about what’s actually in the temp filling and if there are flavorless options. Also, nobody...
RE: What should I have asked before my root canal?
I actually think the whole “ask for a food list” thing can be a bit overrated. My dentist gave me one, but honestly, it was so generic - like, “avoid hard foods.” Well, duh. What I wish I’d done was ask more about *why* ...
RE: Little tricks that helped me recover after gum surgery
Same here - mashed potatoes basically became my entire personality for a week. I tried applesauce, but even that felt weirdly acidic and made me paranoid. Yogurt (the plain, non-chunky kind) was okay, but then I started ...
RE: Which is better for implant soreness: painkillers or just waiting it out?
That’s exactly my dilemma - I always feel like I *should* just deal with it, but then the throbbing gets to me and I cave. I read somewhere that inflammation around an implant can actually get worse if you don’t control ...
