I swear, teeth have the worst timing. I’ve had those 2 a.m. freakouts too—suddenly convinced my wisdom tooth is staging a coup. My rule of thumb: if I can still eat ice cream and my face isn’t ballooning, I wait it out. But yeah, wish there was a “tooth nurse” hotline for the late-night panics...

That would honestly save so much stress. I’ve had nights where I’m googling “when is tooth pain an emergency” and just spiraling. The face swelling thing is my line too, but sometimes the pain feels so intense it’s hard to judge. Has anyone actually gone to the ER for tooth pain? I always wonder if they really do anything besides give painkillers and tell you to see your dentist.

Yeah, I actually ended up at the ER once when my face started swelling up and the pain just wouldn’t let me sleep. They basically checked I wasn’t about to pass out, gave me antibiotics and some pain meds, then told me to see my dentist ASAP. It helped for the night, but honestly, unless your face is blowing up or you can’t swallow, it’s usually just a stopgap. Still, that peace of mind was worth it in the moment.
