That whole “chemistry set” taste is so real. I really thought I was just being picky, but it’s wild how even the soaks labeled as “gentle” can leave that odd film. I tried a couple different brands thinking maybe one would be less noticeable, but honestly, most of them seem to leave at least a little residue.

Rinsing extra long helps a bit for me, and I started using filtered water just in case my tap water was reacting with the soak—can’t say for sure that made a huge difference, but the taste seemed a little less harsh? I do a gentle brush with a soft toothbrush too, but I’m always paranoid about scratching the surface, so I go really light. It’s kind of a balancing act between getting them clean and not making them feel weird.

I also read somewhere that leaving your dentures in the soak too long (like overnight every night) can actually make the film worse, which surprised me. I always thought the longer the better, but now I try to stick to the time on the label. Feels like a small detail, but maybe it’s helping a bit.

If you ever find a soak that doesn’t leave that aftertaste, definitely worth sharing. For now, I’m just glad I’m not the only one who notices it. Makes me feel a little less neurotic about wanting my dentures to feel “just right.”
