What would you do if you ran out of denture cleaner on a trip?

Baking soda really does come through when you're in a pinch, doesn't it? I’ve also tried the salt water route, but after a couple days, things just start to feel... not quite right. I get anxious about soap too—just never sure if I got it all off. Honestly, you handled it better than I would’ve. Next time, maybe I’ll remember to toss a travel pack in my bag.

Baking soda’s definitely saved me a few times, but I’m always a bit skeptical about using it long-term. I’ve read it can be a bit abrasive, especially if you’re not careful. Have you ever tried those little denture cleaning wipes? I haven’t yet, but I’m tempted since they seem less messy than powder or tablets. Wondering if anyone’s noticed a difference in how their dentures feel or look after using alternatives for a few days...

I get nervous about using baking soda too much, honestly. It can definitely be abrasive if you’re not careful, especially on softer acrylic. I did try those denture wipes once when I forgot my usual cleaner on a weekend trip. They were convenient—no mess, quick to use—but I felt like my dentures weren’t quite as fresh after a couple days. Maybe it’s just in my head, but I missed that super clean feeling you get from a soak. Still, in a pinch, they’re better than nothing... just not my go-to for more than a day or two.

I totally get what you mean about missing that “just soaked” clean feeling. I’ve been in that spot—once I had to use plain water and my toothbrush for a couple days when I forgot my cleaner. Not ideal, but it got me through. I’m not a fan of baking soda either, especially after I noticed some tiny scratches on my first set. The wipes are handy, but yeah, I always feel like my dentures are just “okay” after. Nothing beats a proper soak, if you ask me.

Totally agree, I never feel quite right without that soak either. Do you think using just water and a toothbrush is safe for a few days, though? I always worry about missing bacteria or damaging the fit. I tried wipes once, but honestly, it just made me more anxious about cleanliness.
