"Ice cream was tempting, but I worried about the sugar irritating things. Curious if anyone braved it anyway."

I totally get the hesitation about sugary stuff—I was worried too, especially since my dentist warned me about irritation. But honestly, I couldn't resist trying a little vanilla ice cream (budget-friendly store brand, of course). It actually helped numb things nicely for a bit. Just made sure to rinse gently afterward. Also, scrambled eggs were a lifesaver for me too...cheap, filling, and easy on the gums. Hang in there, it gets better pretty quickly!

It's interesting you mention the ice cream thing—I actually had a similar experience. My dentist was pretty firm about steering clear of sugary stuff, but after a couple days of soups and smoothies, I couldn't resist a spoonful or two of chocolate ice cream (nothing fancy, just whatever was on sale). Didn't notice any major irritation, but I was super careful to rinse gently afterward. Honestly, the temporary comfort was worth it.

Scrambled eggs were definitely a staple for me too—soft, easy, and affordable. Also found mashed sweet potatoes worked wonders when I needed something filling but gentle on the gums. You're doing great managing things so far...it really does improve faster than you'd think. Hang in there!

Did your dentist specifically mention ice cream as something to avoid? Mine was pretty vague about sugary stuff in general, but I figured ice cream would be okay since it's cold and soft. I tried vanilla the second day after surgery—just a small bowl—and honestly, it felt soothing. Didn't notice any irritation either. Wonder if chocolate would be riskier because of the cocoa or something...? Anyway, scrambled eggs were my go-to as well, but mashed sweet potatoes sound like a good idea too. Wish I'd thought of that earlier.

My dentist didn't specifically mention ice cream either, just warned me vaguely about sugary stuff. Honestly though, vanilla ice cream was a lifesaver for me too—cold, creamy, and soothing. Chocolate might be fine, but I'd probably avoid it at first just to be safe... cocoa can sometimes irritate sensitive gums. Scrambled eggs were great, but mashed sweet potatoes with a bit of butter and cinnamon? Total comfort food, highly recommend giving it a shot next time.

Vanilla ice cream was my go-to as well, mostly because it was cheap and soothing—win-win. Mashed sweet potatoes sound amazing, but honestly, instant mashed potatoes were my budget-friendly hero. Not gourmet, but hey, comfort food is comfort food, right?
