RE: What if sugar cravings didn’t wreck your teeth?
The citrus concern doesn’t mean skipping oranges. Having them with a meal instead of grazing avoids repeated acid exposure; rinsing with water afterward and waiting about 30 minutes before brushing can help avoid brushin...
RE: Surprised by what’s lurking in “healthy” snacks?
Reading this is making me rethink my snack choices... I always thought grabbing a handful of trail mix was the “safe” option, but now I’m second-guessing it. I haven’t had any major dental work yet (just a couple filling...
RE: Surprised by what’s lurking in “healthy” snacks?
I totally get where you’re coming from. I stood in the grocery aisle once, just reading and rereading the ranch label, and it honestly made me anxious about what I was actually eating. I tried to make my own too - ended ...
RE: Did you know kids’ sports guards can help with more than just broken teeth?
I get what you mean about the UV boxes. I keep seeing ads for them, but honestly, I’m still just using soap and water for my mouthguard. I feel like as long as you’re not leaving it in a gross gym bag or something, it’s ...
RE: Did you know kids’ sports guards can help with more than just broken teeth?
I totally get the sticker shock - my kid just started soccer, and I was floored at the cost for a custom guard. He’s super sensitive about textures too, so I was dreading the drama. But weirdly, after a few days, he stop...
RE: That Moment When Your Bracket Pops Off on a Sunday Night
That actually makes me feel a little better... I keep imagining my teeth just slowly drifting out of place if anything goes wrong. Maybe I’ve watched too many videos of braces disasters, but I can’t help but worry. When ...
RE: Braces in your 30s: did you know teeth can move for life?
I totally get what you mean about the retainer feeling off. I just started wearing mine and every little change freaks me out a bit. Sometimes after a night of skipping it (which I know I shouldn’t do), my teeth feel lik...
RE: Why does every makeover seem to fade after a few weeks?
That’s exactly what happens to me. I’ll be super motivated after a cleaning or a new routine, but then something tiny - like running late one morning - throws it off. Suddenly, I’m back to old habits and feeling guilty a...
RE: Which is easier: healing from a simple extraction or a surgical one?
That’s kind of surprising to hear, but also makes sense. I’ve got my first extraction coming up (just a “simple” one, supposedly), and I keep telling myself not to stress. But now I’m wondering if I should be extra caref...
RE: Unexpected Everyday Things That Can Tint Your Teeth
That’s exactly what happened to me! I thought maybe I was just being dramatic, but the sensitivity was real. Coffee is my downfall too... I swear I can brush right after and still see a difference. I’ve even started worr...
RE: Moving my jaw around after tightening: does it even help?
I always wonder if being too cautious might make things stiffen up more, though. My ortho mentioned gentle movement actually helps with soreness sometimes. I get nervous about chewing, but I do try to talk and move my ja...
RE: Getting used to eating and talking with new teeth
I’ve wondered about that too. My mom was big on salt water for literally everything, but I always end up gagging on it and just rinse with plain water instead. Haven’t had any issues so far (fingers crossed). Also, mashe...
RE: Ever notice how veneers were invented by a Hollywood dentist?
I get frustrated about that too, but I heard if veneers are for fixing damage (like after an injury), sometimes insurance will help? Not sure how often that works though. The “cosmetic” label feels so arbitrary when it’s...
RE: How I prepped for dental implant sedation and what actually worked
That’s exactly what I’m worried about - my brain just won’t quit overthinking, especially the night before. I’ve tried those rain sounds, but yeah, it’s like you finally start to relax and then some random ad pops up... ...
RE: Chewing Gum That Actually Works For Gross Breath?
I’m really glad you mentioned the tongue scraper thing, because I’ve always wondered if that was just a gimmick or actually made a difference. I get super self-conscious about my breath, especially before dentist appoint...
