RE: How gentle should eating and flossing be around a temporary root canal filling?
“Ease it out sideways” is useful, but the contact matters too: guide the floss gently between the teeth, curve it around the neighboring tooth, and move it away from the temporary filling’s edge. Don’t force it through a...
RE: Quick fixes that helped me survive dry socket pain
Clove oil was a total lifesaver for me too, honestly. The taste is wild, but when you’re desperate for sleep, you’ll try anything. I remember using it after my second wisdom tooth extraction - first one healed fine, seco...
RE: How much aftercare is really needed after a root canal?
I actually wondered the same thing after mine. My dentist wanted me back twice for follow-ups, which felt like overkill since I had zero pain and everything looked fine. Maybe it’s just a way to be super safe, but I kind...
RE: Struggling to pronounce certain words with new dentures - anyone else?
Yeah, those “s” sounds are the worst. I kept tripping over “sandwich” for weeks - super awkward at work lunches. Did anyone else notice it’s worse when you’re tired? I swear my speech gets sloppier by the end of the day.
RE: Why my morning coffee might be turning my teeth yellow
I get what you mean about the “sensitive” toothpastes - tried a bunch myself and I still can’t bite into anything cold without feeling like my teeth are sending out an SOS. I’ve been through braces, retainers, the whole ...
RE: Finding tasty options when chewing hurts
Totally agree on the soft pasta thing - macaroni with cheese or Alfredo was way easier than spaghetti, which just felt like a chore. Instant mashed potatoes tasted weirdly artificial to me too, almost plasticky? I did tr...
RE: Which feels more natural to you: fixed implants or removable dentures?
I totally get what you mean about the weirdness at first. When I got my fixed implants, it honestly felt like a rock in my mouth for ages - super tight, like you said. But with my old partial, I was always worried it wou...
RE: Keeping dentures fresh when you’re forgetful like me
Honestly, I can’t really tell if the fizzing tablets do much more than just soaking. I’ve tried the cheap ones and the “fancy” ones and they all seem about the same to me. Baking soda’s been my backup too - never noticed...
RE: Saw a news piece about more adults getting braces - what’s it really like?
Yeah, skipping the cleaning routine is always tempting until you pay for it at your next checkup. I totally get what you mean about appreciating regular brushing - never realized how easy it was until brackets and wires ...
RE: Weirdest things that actually help with braces pain
That jaw clenching at night is brutal. I used to wake up with my whole face sore, and the chew marks on my cheeks were wild. For me, the only thing that made a difference was a mouthguard my ortho gave me - kinda ugly bu...
RE: How I stopped my gums from bleeding when I floss (step-by-step, sorta)
Honestly, tape-style floss was a game changer for me. The regular string always shredded on my brackets and got stuck, which was a nightmare. Woven floss sounds interesting - does it hold up with braces, or does it snag?...
RE: Which is easier: healing from a simple extraction or a surgical one?
Totally agree with this. My “simple” extraction last year turned into a week of mashed potatoes and grumpy chewing. I actually healed faster from my impacted wisdom tooth surgery, weirdly enough. Maybe it’s because they ...
RE: Is It Okay to Suck My Thumb at Bedtime?
Honestly, I never thought thumb-sucking would follow me into adulthood either, but here we are. I started noticing my teeth shifting a couple years back, and my ortho straight-up asked if I had any habits like that. Didn...
RE: Does switching to vaping actually help your teeth and gums?
Yeah, I noticed the same thing with my gums getting more sensitive after I switched to vaping. I always thought it’d be better than smoking, but honestly, my mouth feels drier and my gums get sore way more often now. I t...
RE: Which Feels Better: Custom Vs. Boil-And-Bite Mouthguards?
Honestly, I found the custom one way easier to talk with. It’s not perfect - still a bit lispy - but my tongue doesn’t get stuck like with the boil-and-bite. The plasticky taste faded after a week or so for me, but I rem...
