That’s not just in your head—if I skip soaking for even a night or two, there’s definitely a funk that builds up quicker. It’s probably bacteria hanging around since rinsing doesn’t really kill much. I’ve tried just brushing and rinsing before bed when I’m tired, but it never feels quite as clean by morning. If you’re noticing the smell, maybe try those little cleaning tablets more regularly? I keep a backup stash by my sink so I don’t have an excuse to skip.

That’s been our experience too—my kiddo has a partial, and when we’re both wiped out at bedtime, sometimes the cleaning routine gets skipped. Next morning, it’s like, yikes, what is that smell? I started putting the tablets in a little jar right by the toothbrushes. It’s not foolproof, but it helps. Don’t beat yourself up over it... life gets busy. Even just being aware makes a difference.

I’ve definitely noticed the same thing—if I forget to soak mine even once, it’s like a science experiment gone wrong by morning. That “funk” is no joke. The tablet jar trick is clever, but I’m always half-asleep when I’m supposed to remember it. Sometimes I wonder if there’s a tech solution for this… like, why hasn’t someone made a denture case that buzzes or lights up if you forget to drop your partial in at night? Or maybe an app that reminds you, but honestly, I’d probably ignore the notification anyway.

I tried putting sticky notes on my bathroom mirror for a while, but after a week they just blended into the background clutter and I stopped noticing them. It’s kind of wild how fast habits slip when you’re tired or just not thinking about it. Anyone else try those ultrasonic cleaners? I keep seeing ads for them but can’t decide if they’re worth the hype or just another gadget to collect dust.

Honestly, I don’t think there’s a perfect fix for forgetfulness—just ways to make it less of a disaster when it happens. At least we’re all in the same boat with the morning “yikes” moments. Maybe someone will invent smart dentures next... not sure if I’d want mine talking back to me though.

I hear you on the sticky note thing—after a while, they just become part of the scenery. About those ultrasonic cleaners, have you actually seen any difference with them compared to the regular soak? I’ve had a few patients ask if they’re worth it, but I’m not sure if the extra step makes much impact for most people. Do you find it’s more about convenience or actual cleaning power? Sometimes I think all these gadgets are just marketing, but maybe I’m too skeptical...

I get what you’re saying about the gadgets—sometimes it does seem like there’s a new “must-have” every few months. But honestly, I did notice a difference when I started using an ultrasonic cleaner for my dentures. It’s not like they come out sparkling with zero effort, but here’s what I found:

First, I still do a quick rinse and brush, just like before. Then I pop them in the ultrasonic thing with the cleaning tablet. The first week or two, I didn’t see much change. But after a while, the little nooks and crannies that always seemed to hold onto gunk were way cleaner. It’s almost like it gets to the stuff that regular soaking misses.

I wouldn’t say it’s a miracle worker, but for me, it made things easier on days when my hands were stiff and brushing was tough. Maybe it’s partly peace of mind, but I do think it goes a step further than just soaking. Not sure everyone needs one, but if you struggle with manual cleaning, it might be worth trying—not just marketing, at least in my case.
