RE: Finally stopped my electric toothbrush from getting all gross - here’s what worked
Barbaranelson661’s suggestion to wipe the whole brush with rubbing alcohol needs a model-specific check. Alcohol can damage some plastics or seals, and liquid getting into the handle or charging contacts could harm the b...
RE: What Did You Have To Take Before Your Oral Surgery?
I get why skipping antibiotics is the go-to, but honestly, I almost wish they’d offered them for my wisdom teeth. I was so freaked out about infection, even though my dentist said it wasn’t necessary. Maybe it’s just my ...
RE: How long did your bridge replacement actually take?
It’s wild how much your brain fixates on the new bridge, right? I kept running my tongue over mine for ages, convinced something would shift or break. Did you ever get those weird phantom sensations, like you could still...
RE: Did you know kids’ sports guards can help with more than just broken teeth?
I get what you’re saying, but I’m honestly not convinced that sports guards or night guards are always the magic solution people make them out to be. You mentioned, I tried a night guard (from my dentist, not just th...
RE: How soft is too soft for toothbrush bristles?
I totally get what you mean about ultra-soft bristles just kind of folding over and not really scrubbing anything. That’s exactly how I felt - almost like I was just moving toothpaste around, not actually cleaning. But ...
RE: Keeping old bridges in shape - what actually works?
That’s honestly the hardest part for me. I just got my first bridge last year and I swear, keeping it clean feels like a full-time job. I tried those little bottle brushes everyone talks about, but either my bridge is we...
RE: Trying to keep my teeth happy with diabetes… anyone else struggle?
That’s exactly what I’m worried about - those “soft” bars are a total gamble. I keep reading they’re safe, but honestly, my teeth feel every little crunch. It’s wild how much planning goes into every meal now. Scrambled ...
RE: Weirdest things that actually help with braces pain
I totally get the appeal of those wraps. Trying to keep a frozen bag of peas balanced on your face while you’re groggy is just…not happening, especially for kids. I was skeptical at first, but honestly, having something ...
RE: Spotting early signs of gum trouble: What do you look for?
Tongue test is interesting, but honestly, it makes me more paranoid than reassured. I feel like unless it’s really swollen or sore, I can’t tell much. For me, the real wake-up call was when my gums started looking shiny ...
RE: Weirdly, chewing on the other side after a root canal can make your jaw sore
I totally get what you mean about the ear aching - didn’t expect that at all after my root canal. I was so paranoid about chewing on the “bad” side that I basically overworked the other half of my face. Warm compresses h...
RE: Braces for buck teeth vs deep bites: did you know they're not the same thing?
Honestly, I thought the same thing about elastics - my mind went straight to “what if one snaps and I lose an eye?” but in reality, it’s more like a little ping and then... awkwardly picking it off your sweater. Not near...
RE: Laughing gas saved my sanity during my root canal
I read all these stories about people laughing or feeling loopy, but honestly, my main worry is the anxiety part. I’d rather feel a bit weird than have a full-blown panic attack in the chair. I know nitrous isn’t suppose...
RE: Which is easier: healing from a simple extraction or a surgical one?
Honestly, this is exactly what’s been stressing me out. I have a “simple” extraction coming up and everyone keeps saying it’s nothing, but the horror stories about dry socket are freaking me out more than the actual toot...
RE: Sealants at the Dentist vs. School Clinic: Which Is Better for Your Wallet?
Sealants at the Dentist vs. School Clinic: Which Is Better for Your Wallet? That’s pretty much the exact debate I had with myself this year. The price difference is wild - my dentist wanted something like $50 a tooth, a...
RE: How long did you wait for new dentures after extractions?
That taste thing is honestly one of the weirdest parts for me too. I kept second-guessing myself, wondering if I was just being dramatic or if something had gone wrong. Nobody really warns you how much your palate affect...
