RE: Pain eased after extraction, then became much worse several days later
Alongside the socket, the dentist may check nearby teeth and how the bite comes together. Tenderness when a neighboring tooth is tapped can suggest a tooth-related source, while pain with jaw movement may lead them to as...
RE: What I wish I knew before getting cosmetic bonding on my teeth
That lighting thing messes with my head too. I remember thinking my bonding had gone totally yellow after a weekend at my parents’ place, but it was just their weird bathroom lights. I get nervous about stains, especiall...
RE: WEIRD TRICKS PEOPLE SWEAR BY FOR WOBBLY TEETH
That’s been my experience too - when I had braces as a teen, I remember being super hesitant to brush around a loose tooth. It felt so sensitive, and honestly, I worried I’d knock it out early or something. But every tim...
RE: Keeping pain at bay after wisdom tooth extraction: worth the fuss?
That weird taste thing really threw me off too. I kept worrying it meant something was wrong, especially when my stitches started dissolving and everything tasted a bit metallic. My dentist said some odd flavors and even...
RE: Worth it to put protective coatings on kids’ teeth?
That part about “teeth have a mind of their own” really hits home. My oldest had sealants and still needed a filling last year, while my younger kid has none and is cavity-free. I’m with you - sealants aren’t a guarantee...
RE: Moving my jaw around after tightening: does it even help?
It’s reassuring to read your take on this because I’ve wrestled with the same question after every adjustment. There are days when I try to “work through” the soreness, thinking maybe light movement will help, but then I...
RE: Finally stopped my teeth from wiggling - here’s what worked for me
It’s funny, I got caught up in all those fancy tools too - water flossers, special rinses, you name it. In the end, nothing beat just taking my time with brushing and using plain floss. My orthodontist actually warned me...
RE: Dealing with those sneaky in-between tooth cavities
Crowded teeth really do make everything more complicated, don’t they? I’ve had braces for a while now, and it’s wild how much more stuff gets trapped in between. I’ve tried those rubber picks too, but sometimes they just...
RE: If you could only pick one vitamin for your teeth, which would it be?
I’ve heard that about vitamin C too, but honestly, I didn’t notice much when I tried increasing it. Maybe my gums were already in decent shape? For me, the real game-changer was when I finally got serious about flossing ...
RE: Which one actually gets your teeth cleaner: blasting with water or good ol’ string floss?
That’s definitely been my experience too. When I first started using string floss regularly (especially after getting braces), my gums would get kind of angry - red, puffy, a little sore. After maybe a couple weeks, thou...
RE: Which Feels Better: Custom Vs. Boil-And-Bite Mouthguards?
Definitely not just you. The edges on mine were super uncomfortable, almost like they hadn’t smoothed out after molding. I’d get these sore spots along my gums after wearing it a few hours. The custom one feels way more ...
RE: Best ways to keep your mouth happy after a tooth pulled?
That’s so relatable. I remember using my phone camera to check the extraction spot every few hours, just to make sure nothing looked “off.” Honestly, sticking to soft foods and resisting chips was tough, but it really pa...
RE: Finding the right dentist for dental implants: my step-by-step approach
I really relate to this. When I was looking into braces a couple of years ago, I ran into the same thing - first they quoted one price, then suddenly there were “lab fees” and extra x-rays that weren’t mentioned before. ...
RE: HOW OFTEN DO YOU REALLY NEED TO SEE YOUR DENTIST AFTER IMPLANTS?
I totally relate to the paranoia about brushing near the implant. The first week after mine, I barely touched the area - just kind of hovered with the toothbrush and hoped for the best. It’s wild how protective you get, ...
