Totally get you on the poking-at-it thing... I couldn’t leave mine alone either, and it just made me more anxious. My dentist said I grind my teeth at night too—never would’ve guessed. The saltwater rinse felt nice but didn’t really fix anything for me, either. Just knowing it wasn’t something awful helped a lot, honestly.

I get what you mean about the saltwater—it’s soothing, but I kept worrying it wasn’t enough for my kid’s loose tooth. I actually got more anxious just waiting for it to tighten up. Sometimes I wonder if poking at it makes things worse, honestly... I had to keep reminding myself not to let him mess with it too much. Maybe I’m just overly cautious, but I kept checking with the dentist just in case.

I hear you on the saltwater thing—it’s always the first suggestion, but I’ve never found it does much for wobbly teeth, especially with kids. When my grandkids had loose teeth, I’d catch them poking at them constantly. Honestly, I’m convinced fiddling with them just drags things out. I know everyone says “let nature do its thing,” but I couldn’t help checking in with their dentist too. Maybe it’s overkill, but I’d rather be safe than sorry.

I get what you mean about checking with the dentist, but honestly, those visits add up fast. My wallet still winces at the memory. When my youngest had a wobbly tooth, we just stuck to soft foods and let her play with it (within reason). Saltwater rinse? Maybe it helps a little with soreness, but I never saw it speed things up either. Sometimes I think the best trick is just distracting them with cartoons and letting nature—and gravity—do their thing.

Couldn’t agree more about the cost of those checkups. I get anxious about skipping them, but honestly, our budget just can’t handle every minor tooth wobble. We’ve also done the soft foods thing and tried to keep hands (and random objects) out of mouths, but you’re right—those teeth seem to come out when they’re good and ready, no matter what you do.

Saltwater rinse is my go-to for almost everything mouth-related, but I’ve never seen it actually speed up the process either. Have you ever tried those “tie a string to the door” tricks? My mom swore by them, but I could never bring myself to do it with my kids… feels a bit medieval, honestly.

Curious if anyone’s ever had luck with those “tooth fairy pillows” or other ways to make the whole thing less stressful for the kid (and the parent). Distraction seems to be the only magic that actually works in our house.
